Sheer Industries was one of many startups that were invited to participate in the opening event of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Singapore 2011. The event was hosted for the fourth consecutive year by ACE (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) and supported by Spring Singapore.
Companies who received funding through the Young Entrepreneurs Scheme for Startups (YES! Startus) were invited to showcase themselves at booths laid out at The Open Space outside The Cathay for a full day on the 8th of November.
It was an eventful day that allowed startups and members of the public to mingle and a great opportunity for many of the companies to market their products and brand identities. We had a tonne of fun meeting fellow entrepreneurs with ideas that were brilliant and products that were truly innovative such as fish ‘bak kwa’, red yeast pasta, animation software, t-shirt and gift card makers, music composition applications, as well as milkshake baristas. The exhibition proved to be a representation of the thriving entrepreneurial climate in Singapore with a vibrant ecosystem that is not commonly seen from an outsider’s point of view.
Here is our photo reel of the event:

It is encouraging to note that government agencies and various institutions of higher learning are working together to provide high-level support and opportunities to enable startup companies to get word their existence around, as one of the main challenges that young companies frequently face is the lack of credibility and track record in their respective markets, and events like these do help to beef up a startup’s standing and provide some sort of exposure.
We look forward to participate in similar events and opportunities in the future to maximize our progress.
